About the Systems Integration Engineer in Air Force Civilian Service
The AFCS is looking for a Full-Time Systems Integration Engineer (GS-0801-13) to work at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC), Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), Air Force Civil Engineer Operations (CO), Maintenance, and Cyberspace Division, AF CE FRCS (COMI) at Tyndall AFB, FL. - Retiring or retired members of the Armed Forces to positions in any DoD Component within 180 days immediately following retirement may only be made by DoDI 1402.01 and may require a waiver for appointment before 180 days from official military retirement.
Salary Range:
- $103,409 – $134,435 (including locality)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Primary Purpose: Serve as a professional engineer and technical expert with senior systems engineering responsibility, encompassing acquisition and development processes. Provide technical leadership in planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define civil engineer system/subsystem requirements, translate requirements into design criteria, evaluate alternative design approaches, and develop system specifications.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
- Travel: Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Driving: May require the employee to drive a motor vehicle; a valid driver’s license may be required.
- Drug Testing: Position designated for random drug testing.
- Emergency Essential (E-E): Must meet all E-E requirements, including potential vaccinations against anthrax and other diseases, and may be required to take part in readiness exercises.
- Security Clearance: Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
- Emergency Overtime: May be required.
- Confidential Disclosure: Employee must file an OGE Form 450 upon appointment and annually thereafter.
- Certifications: May be required to obtain certifications such as Certified Information System Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, or others authorized by the supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Systems Engineering: Perform professional systems engineering work in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of AF CE FRCS systems, components, and/or support equipment.
- Technical Leadership: Apply advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure project success.
- Consultation: Serve as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials.
Basic Requirements:
- Degree: Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience: Combination of education, training, and/or technical experience that provides a thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences and engineering principles.
Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement:
- GS-13 Level: One year at the GS-12 level is required.
